BEAUTY SLEEP! 4 WAYS SLEEP IS THE MOST OVERLOOKED SKINCARE ROUTINE
It’s a common phrase, though I don’t know how much folks say it anymore. I remember my mom saying it to us when we were kids and I occasionally drop a reference to my children.

“Time to go get your beauty sleep”
The term is catchy and true. To be beautiful, inside and out, we need to get our sleep. There are countless reasons why we don’t get good sleep and there are even more reasons why the Skincare Industry doesn’t promote it—poor sleep requires more of their products.
It doesn’t matter how much your moisturize, exfoliate & SPF your skin..if you’re not getting good sleep your skin will not thrive.
Feel The Flow
During sleep, your body can devote more blood flow to your skin. This delivers more oxygen and nutrients to your largest organ—especially during REM sleep. Assuming you’re eating plenty of animal fats and proteins, this increased flow allows for more efficient collogen synthesis. Increased flow delivers growth factors, platelets & fibrin to damaged skin faster.
Repair
Skin regeneration peaks during sleep due to the release of Human Growth Hormone (HGH) and Melatonin. These are critical to repairing damage from UV light and environmental stressors, promoting optimal skincare turnover.
Reduce
Poor sleep increases the presence of the stress hormone cortisol. Chronically elevated cortisol causes puffiness and a dull skin tone. It can also trigger inflammatory skin conditions like acne, eczema and psoriasis. Finally, prolonged elevated cortisol can break down collagen and elastin—critical components in skin repair.
This is one of the leading benefits of our Skincare Elixir. CBD has been shown to lower inflammation through improved sleep.
Reverse
If good sleep helps—poor sleep hurts. Said bluntly Poor sleep ages your skin (and body) faster! Got dark spots, baggy eyes, flaky skin? Look to your sleep pattern before you go spending those hard-earned dollars on any skincare product. Lack of sleep has been shown to delay wound healing by as much as 30%. People don’t need Botox—they need REM sleep.
I’ll unpack some strategies and tips/tricks on better sleep in a future post…but here are some solid basics for optimal sleep.
